About its Creator

Brad Pattison is a native of Calgary Alberta, Canada. Brad began working on the Dog Day Care concept in 1991 after his dog Kia, a beautiful two year old Shepherd Lab cross, was stolen from his backyard. Brad made it his goal to protect other dogs and their owners from a similar fate, by offering a safe alternative for dog owners where they could feel comfortable leaving their dogs in a fun and loving setting. Brad has researched the dog day care concept in many cities in Canada and the United States. He opened the doors to the first Yuppy Puppy Dog Day Care in the Fall of 1993 in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was also the first Dog Day Care to be opened in Canada.

Over the years Brad has developed a thriving business, offering a full service Day Care and delivering numerous training courses to help his clients better understand the nature of dogs and learn how to enjoy their companionship to the fullest. His intentions are simple . . . to reach out to as many people as possible, in a kind, caring and responsible way. Most important - to have fun with the dogs and enjoy the value they add to our lives.

Over the years, Brad has developed many media and promotional opportunities through Yuppy Puppy, and has been involved in a number of different activities:

  • Over 173 television, radio, newspaper and magazine interviews.

  • Dog and training provider for the Pacific Northwest's commercial
    and film industry.

  • Sole provider of dog day care for The X-Files.

  • Host of Yuppy Puppy Radio Show.

  • Interviewed by Venture, CBC's national entrepreneurial business television program.

  • The subject of a documentary on dog day care training produced by the Vancouver Film Board.

  • Member of the Guide Dog for the Blind Association.

  • An appearance on Sesame Street for children's segment "What's a
    Puppy to do"
    .

  • 4th year on the Children's Hospital Telethon Panel.

  • Featured on "Gentle Doctor" on the Life Network for therapeutic dog massage.

  • Microsoft's Web Site of the Day in August, 1997.
